Thanksgiving Extended: Make it a Gratitude Weekend!

There is real power in gratitude, and giving thanks together can strengthen our connection to one another. It can be hard to know how to express gratitude in a way that feels authentic and not cheesy. We encourage you to continue “giving thanks” this weekend, in honor of Thanksgiving. Start today, and join us in a gratitude-filled weekend, with these 3 simple steps. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, try these 3 things each day:

  1. Write it down.
    Begin each morning by writing 3 things you feel grateful for. It doesn’t matter where you write them—paper, steamed mirror, in shaving cream—just put them in front of you so you can see them.
  2. Express appreciation to someone in your life.
    During the day, tell a friend or relative something you appreciate about them. If you aren’t able to say it in person, try it by text, email, or even an old-school handwritten note. If you need practice, try it with a pet (or even a pillow).
  3. Read your list. Out. Loud.
    At some point during the day, write down on paper (perhaps in a journal) your list from the morning. Before bedtime, read out loud your gratitude list. Reading what you’re grateful for while hearing it in your own voice can help you emotionally connect with it.
